MÄRKLIN 3030 CONVERSION STEP 1 Exchange to five pole High-Efficiency motor. Kit used: Märklin 60903 Picture shows shield side of motor. Conversion is done with lots of advise from members of the Märklin Band network, especially "Aussie John". Thereafter installation of digital decoder with original sound type LokoSound V3.5 art no 59597 from ESU. FUNCTIONS: F0: Light on/off, F1: Engine sounds on/of, F2: Whistle long, F3: Whistle short, F4: Typhoon long, F5: Typhoon short F6: Shuntingspeed

MÄRKLIN 3030 CONVERSION STEP 2 Making room for the speaker by milling in the chassie. Here also seen, is the installation of small circuitboards in each ends of the loco, supplyed with warm white light diodes, together with a resistor.

MÄRKLIN 3030 CONVERSION STEP 4 Installing digital decoder and speaker, by use of a special 8 pole connector cable, art no 51950, also supplyed by ESU. That makes the decoder easy to dismount for service and reprogramming. IMPORTANT NOTICE: As the function outputs on the decoder, do not have contious power, connecting the returnlead of the LED:s to the loco chassie, will lead to a rythmic flicker of the headlights. Instead, i have used the blue wire from the decoder, as a return lead.
MÄRKLIN 3030 CONVERSION STEP 5 Changing cellon windows for clear "glass" windows.
MÄRKLIN 3030 CONVERSION STEP 6 Remove foil and the main light leads.
MÄRKLIN 3030 CONVERSION STEP 7 Install clear "glass" windows. Just press them into place. A small file can be useful. Do not use any glue.
MÄRKLIN 3030 CONVERSION STEP 8 Installation ready. A much better look than before with the old gray cellon windows.
